Eric Garner Grand Jury Verdict, Day 1

The official protest of the Eric Garner Grand Jury decision was planned for the day after it was announced. However, when the complete non-indictment came down at the end of the work day, people poured into Union Square as if by instinct. Marches flooded the streets, but the police pushed back far more than during any of the Mike Brown protests so far. The march I was with headed north and was stopped for mass arrests both on the West Side Highway and at Beth Israel Hospital by Columbia University.
